Do you have a story to share about your visit to Wales? We'd love to hear it. And if it shows up in a future issue of Croeso we'll send you a $25 gift certificate as a token of our appreciation.

Spotlight On: Cardiff Celebration

JOIN US IN 2005 as Cardiff celebrates a double anniversary: its 50th as the capital of Wales and its 100th as an official city of Britain. But don't be fooled - Cardiff Castle dates back nearly 2,000 years to Roman times and Cardiff has been an important military, commercial and cultural center ever since.

Today the ancient castle stands alongside such modern wonders as the just-opened Wales Millennium Center, a world-class performing arts venue, and a bustling, revitalized waterfront made possible by the Cardiff Bay Barrage, a marvel of modern, tidal engineering. While across town the National Museum & Gallery is home to the finest collection of Impressionist works outside Paris.

Only 2 hours from London, Cardiff is easy to get to but hard to leave, with its blend of ancient sites, traditional customs, contemporary sophistication and modern comforts.

FIRST PERSON: "As we tell friends and family about our plans, we are met with the same quizzical expressions - 'What's in Wales?' they all ask. Well, we refer them to your websites and such pre-conceived notions and attitudes really change!"
