CARDIFF FESTIVAL 2006

Summer arrives with a bang as the biggest free outdoor festival in Britain takes over Cardiff for five fun-filled weeks. International music, food and street performers are just some of the attractions at the Cardiff Festival, which begins on June 29 and continues through August 6.

Taking advantage of the temperate summer weather, new productions of Alice in Wonderland and As You Like It will be staged on the grounds of St. Fagans National History Museum, one of Europe's leading open air museums, and children of all ages will enjoy the Tesco Children's Festival, featuring circus acts, Herbie Treehead's amazing Dinosaur Show, and a maze behind Cardiff Castle.

Musical choices include Mozart's Requiem and the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, both part of the Wales Proms Cardiff program, as well as Celtic salsa and the global jazz-pop of Susheela Raman in the Cardiff Worldport Festival. The whole festival finishes up with the Admiral Cardiff Big Weekend, with music at the Cardiff Civic Centre, a massive funfair and a fireworks finale every night.
